Singapore overtime rules
MOM Part IV style defaults used in EasySalary. Use the calculator page to estimate a day.
Legal basis
EasySalary’s Singapore defaults follow the Employment Act 1968 (especially Part IV on hours of work, overtime and rest days) as administered by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM). Part IV coverage depends on salary and job type — confirm whether you are covered.
- MOM guide: Hours of work, overtime and rest days
- Statute: Employment Act 1968 (Singapore Statutes Online)
Working day
Hours over N at 1.5× hourly (Employment Act overtime rate for covered employees). For monthly pay, the first N hours are already in salary, so the estimator shows only the OT premium.
Off day, rest day, public holiday
- Off day: 1.5 × R × H
- Rest day (employer-required): H ≤ N/2 → 1 × D; otherwise 2 × D + 1.5 × R × (H − N)
- Public holiday (monthly): 1 × D + 1.5 × R × (H − N)
- Public holiday (hourly): R × min(H, N) + 1 × D + 1.5 × R × (H − N)
Not legal advice. Check MOM guidance, the Employment Act, and whether Part IV applies to you.
FAQ
Is rest-day pay hourly overtime?
No. MOM rest-day pay is based on the daily rate: up to half a day is typically 1× daily; more than half a day is 2× daily, plus 1.5× hourly on hours beyond N.
What is an off day versus a rest day?
A rest day is the weekly rest day under the Employment Act (often Sunday). An off day is a non-working day that is not that rest day (often Saturday). EasySalary pays off day at 1.5× hourly on all hours worked.
Do you also add weekly 44-hour overtime?
The app and this page calculate from that day’s H and N only, same as the product spec. They do not stack a separate weekly 44-hour OT pool.
